Ultherapy Q&A

What is Ultherapy?

Ultherapy is an anti-aging treatment to improve the tightness and firmness of skin in several areas, including:

  • The neck
  • The chin
  • The eyebrow areas
  • The upper chest

Ultherapy uses ultrasound energy to provide a gentle lift to the skin in these areas, with no surgery needed.

How does Ultherapy work?

Before Ultherapy treatments, your Compassionate Health Med Spa provider smooths an ultrasound gel over the treatment areas.

This gel helps the handheld treatment wand to glide smoothly over your skin as it dispenses controlled amounts of ultrasound energy below your skin surface.

The ultrasound energy stimulates your body's production of collagen and elastin, the substances vital for skin support, firmness, and tightness.

When does Ultherapy start to work?

You'll notice firmer and younger-looking skin as soon as two weeks post-treatment. Results steadily improve during the six months after your Ultherapy treatment.

How long do the results of Ultherapy last?

Ultherapy results last for a long time, so you can maintain your refreshed and youthful appearance through touch-ups once or twice a year.

What does my skin look like after Ultherapy?

You may have a slightly flushed appearance, mild swelling, and mild sunburn-like tenderness after your Ultherapy treatment. But, these symptoms typically go away quickly and don't require any downtime at all.

Am I a good candidate for Ultherapy?

If you have mild-to-moderate skin laxity and want to achieve a younger appearance without surgery, Ultherapy could be a great treatment for your needs.

How does Ultherapy combine with other procedures?

Ultherapy can work very well with other procedures, especially when your main goal is long-lasting skin tightness and firmness.

For example, many people have a nonsurgical face-lift using PDO threads and then follow it up with Ultherapy a few weeks later to maximize the amount of new collagen and elastin they produce.

You can also have an Ultherapy treatment followed by dermal fillers and neurotoxin injections, based upon your particular appearance wishes.

If you have skin concerns like sun damage, age spots, melasma, or vascular lesions, you can have a laser treatment or intense pulsed light (IPL) treatment a few weeks after Ultherapy.
